Our guest speaker, Stacy Wilhelm, will speak on Internal vs. External Motivation: Parenting Edition! Raising 3.0 Kids in a 2.0 World. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor's in Journalism and now writes novels and teaches at Holy Cross Catholic Academy. Stacy is also a #1 best-selling author who writes as Staci Stallings.

St. Ann's will be hosting a gathering for all you within our diocese on Saturday, March 18, from 3-8 p.m. The gathering includes praise and worship music, games, fellowship, Mass, and a hamburger cookout. Cost is $5 per student. Students can RSVP by texting (806) 726-7758.

Are you interested in singing with the choir at any Holy Week services? Any 14 years of age or older is welcome to join, and those 13 years of age and younger may attend if accompanied by a parent or older sibling. We will practice for the Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday on Thursday, March 30, at 6:30 p.m. in the church, concluding with a run through of all the Holy Week music plans. The next Baptism preparation session is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28, at 7 p.m. in the parish hall. You must pre-register for this class to ensure your spot! This session is for those who are planning to have a son or daughter baptized in the next few months and those who have been invited to serve as a godparent. Steubenville Florida will be Wednesday, July 12-Tuesday, July 18 for students entering 9th grade and above this fall. Cost is $350 and includes most meals, hotel, travel, and cost of the conference. The registration deadline is Friday, March 31, and requires a $100 non-refundable deposit. Students can pick up a registration packet at youth on Wednesday nights or you may email Angela Asbill at aasbill@stannsofcanyon.org.

Lent begins this week and our youth are scheduled to help with the Fish Fry. Parents, please touch base with your child to see if they volunteered to help prep food on Thursday evening, set up and serve on Friday, or serve and tear down on Friday. We will not have our regular Wednesday youth night this week as all students are encouraged to attend the Ash Wednesday services with their families.

If you are the parent of a graduating senior and would like your graduate recognized in the West Texas Catholic newspaper, please submit your graduate's name with the high school they attend by Tuesday, February 28, at noon. Our 9th-10th grade CCD class will be going on a field trip during regular CCD hour on Sunday, February 26. Students will be serving the homeless in downtown Amarillo. Students who plan to participate will need to attend Mass on Saturday evening at 5 p.m. or the 9 a.m. Mass on Sunday as we will be leaving St. Ann's at 10:20 a.m. and not returning until 12:30 p.m. Participating students must also have turned in a Youth Liability Form. We will celebrate Holy Eucharist and the Signing with Ashes at 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the church. A Liturgy of the Word and Distribution of Ashes will occur at 12:10 p.m. in the church. Please remember that Ash Wednesday is not a holy day of obligation but is a day of abstinence (no meat) and fasting (one full meal and two small meals).

Are you interested in learning how to make authentic Czech kolaches for this year's Czech Dinner? If so, join us for one of our next kolache bake session in the parish hall kitchen from 1-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Our annual Czech Sausage Dinner is just around the corner and we need many of our parishioners to volunteer to assist with preparing, serving, and cleaning up after the meal. Several sign-up sheets will be available online (click on "Czech Sausage Dinner" above) and in the narthex after our Masses for the next few weekends. Please take a few moments to look at these and add your name to one or more of them. Thanks for your help!

Join us for our Lenten Fish Fry scheduled for Friday, March 24. Fish fry meals are $15 for adults and $6 for children ages 5-12. Children under 5 eat free!

Join us for an evening with St. Ann's Pastoral Council member Glenn Backus to learn about Project Fishery, a St. Ann's food pantry, on Wednesday, February 15. The presentation will be in the parish hall beginning at 6:30 with refreshments afterwards.

Our parish's Youth and Knights of Columbus council will host a pancake supper on Tuesday, Feb. 21, as we celebrate Shrove Tuesday (aka Mardi Gras). The event will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Come grab your fill of sausage and pancakes as we enjoy the last day before our Lenten fast begins. Donations will be accepted.

St. Mary's will host a Day of Reconciliation on Wednesday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Multilingual priests from around the diocese are available throughout the day.

The next Men's ACTS Retreat will be Thursday, Feb. 16-Sunday, Feb. 19 at the Bishop DeFalco Retreat Center. The ACTS retreat is a three day and three night Catholic lay retreat presented by fellow members of our diocese. The retreat begins on Thursday evening and ends on Sunday at a Mass celebrated with the diocesan community. DCYC will be held Friday, April 28-Sunday, April 30 this year at the Amarillo Civic Center. The theme is: Be still, let go, and let God. Members of our adult youth ministry team will meet our students at the event.

Students in 2nd grade preparing for the First Communions this year are required to attend a First Communion workshop with their parents on Sunday, February 5, from 3-4:30 p.m. OR Sunday, February 12, from 3-4:30 p.m. Fr. Scott will give a short talk on the Eucharist and then the students will go with their catechists while parents receive packets and instructions to prepare their students for First Communion.
