All parents of students who are preparing to receive First Communion or Confirmation are required to attend the Sacramental Preparation Meeting on Wednesday, October 6, at 6:30 p.m. This meeting will give an overview of the First Communion and Confirmation programs and all their requirements as well as supplemental materials for parents to go through at home with their students. Have you moved to Canyon or begun to attend St. Ann's on a regular basis in the last year? St. Ann's New Parishioners Welcome Weekends will be September 25-26 and October 2-3. We would love to help you register and take a photo of your and your family for our "Welcome" bulletin board. A blessing for new parishioners will also be offered at all Masses the same weekends. Our next practice will be Thursday, September 23, at 5:45 p.m. We will start practice with a meet and greet in the conference room in the office area. there will be food, fellowship, and fun! At 6:30 p.m., we will adjourn to the church for an hour-long practice, and will end between 7:30 and 7:45 p.m.

Our small groups will be starting back up next week, September 19-25. If you are already part of a group, your leader will contact you soon. This year at St. Ann's, guest speakers will come as part of our Adult Faith Formation. Our first speaker, David Walker, will present "When East Meets West," a discussion on the Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church, on Wednesday, September 29, at 6:45 p.m. in the church. Refreshments will be served outside the parish offices from 6:30-6:45 p.m.

A Baptism Preparation session will be held on Tuesday, September 28 at 7 p.m. in the parish hall. This session is for those who are planning to have a son or daughter baptized in the next few months and those who have been invited to serve as a godparent. You must be a registered parishioner for at least three months or have a letter of active participation and good standing from your home parish in order to participate in this class. All youth in grades 5-12 are invited to join us in the parish hall for our Youth Kick-Off this Wednesday, September 8, from 6:30-8 p.m. Come for the food and a night of capture the flag with obstacles and twists. Make sure to wear clothes you can get wet!

We pray for the health of all parishioners at this time. If you do find yourself or a family member in the hospital, please let the hospital know that you are from St. Ann's Parish when you register. Also, please try to notify our parish office at 655-3302. This will allow us to know that we have a parish member hospitalized. When COVID restrictions lighten up again, we will have a brand new hospital visitation team to help care for all those who are ill.

Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. The Balance Matters class is for those 60 and older. The 8 week class starts Thursday, September 2 and goes through Thursday, October 21, from 1-2 p.m. Please contact Laurie Featherstone to register. There will be a Small Group Leaders meeting on Sunday, August 22, at 10:15 a.m. in the Adult Education Room.

Core Members are the heart and soul of the youth ministry experience. You don't have to be an expert on Scripture and you don't need to have a theology degree. Your responsibility is to love teens and show them that God loves them. We need 8 more adults to fill out our team. All heads of each liturgical ministry will gather on Thursday, August 12, at 7:00 p.m. in Meeting Room C to discuss with Fr. Scott plans and protocols for the training of new liturgical ministers.

All youth in grades 6-12 are invited to our End of Summer Party this Wednesday. We will begin at 6 p.m. in the church for music and Adoration, followed by food and games in the parish hall and parking lot.

Anyone who currently works with or plans to work with children or youth and is not certified, must attend one of the Safe Environment Training sessions offered in August. Thursday, September 2, at 7 p.m. in the Adult Education Room Saturday, September 11, at 9 a.m. in the Adult Education Room The certification lasts 5 years. Share your faith and build up up God's Kingdom by becoming a catechist! Children's Faith Formation begins Sunday, September 12. Classes are from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. and follow the Canyon ISD calendar. If you are interested in serving the young people of St. Ann's as a catechist, please contact Adrian Johnson, DRE, at 655-3302 or ajohnson@stannsofcanyon.org.

Faith Formation registration for children and adults will open online on Sunday, August 15, at 10 a.m. In-person registration will start the weekend of August 21 & 22 after all Masses.

St. Ann's is going to resume choir practices on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Do you know someone who is interested in joining the Catholic Church? Have you invited them to attend RCIA? Most people who join RCIA and become Catholic do so because they received an invitation from a friend, coworker, colleague, etc., who is a faithful parishioner at St. Ann's! So, don't hesitate to extend a charitable invitation to anyone you know is seeking to live in the fullness of the truth! There will be a "Come and See" session on Sunday, August 29, at 2 p.m. for anyone who is interested in exploring the Catholic faith.
