This year at St. Ann's, guest speakers will come as part of our Adult Faith Formation. Our first speaker, David Walker, will present "When East Meets West," a discussion on the Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church, on Wednesday, September 29, at 6:45 p.m. in the church. Refreshments will be served outside the parish offices from 6:30-6:45 p.m.
David was a third-generation Southern Baptist pastor, raised in and around the Texas Panhandle. His studies of the Early Church Fathers in seminary ultimately led to to come into full communion with the Catholic Church almost twenty years ago. He and his family are Byzantine Catholic and have worked in both the Eastern and Western contexts of the Church. David has served as the Director of the Office of Marriage and Family Life for the Archdiocese of Denver and as the lead instructor for the Denver Catholic Biblical School. He has also served in various Catholic religious education roles and has spoken on multiple Catholic topics--primarily related to Church history, Sacred Scripture, Catholic apologetics, and St. John Paul II's Theology of the Body. He recently relocated to Canyon from Colorado.
