The Sts. Anne & Joachim Circle is once again planning to deliver Thanksgiving baskets to families who are in need of some help for the upcoming holiday. If you would like to receive a basket, or if you know of a family who could use one, please contact Stefani at the parish office by no later than next Sunday (November 11).
Students in 8th grade (or older) who have been enrolled in and attending faith formation classes for at least the past two years are invited to join us for an orientation session for our new Confirmation program. we will meet on Sunday, October 28 at 6:30 p.m. in classroom #1. Parents should also attend this meeting. Attendance is required for those who wish to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation this spring. See you there!
All students in grades 5-12 are invited to join us this Wednesday for Mass in the church at 6 p.m., followed by a beef stew meal prepared by members of St. Therese Circle. After dinner, high school students will break into our men's and women's study groups and intermediate/junior high students will have a discussion about how they can help the poor this winter. There will be no confessions on Saturday, October 27. Fr. Busch will be at a school event, and will return to the parish shortly before the 5 p.m. Mass.
All children of the parish (and their adult family members) are invited to join us for an evening of games, food, and prizes on Wednesday, October 31, from 6-7:30 p.m. There will be costume contests for three different age groups (infant-K, grades 1-4, and grades 5-12). Hot dogs, nachos, and frito pies will be served. This event is sponsored by the youth of our parish. There is no charge, but cash donations wil be accepted. Come celebrate Halloween in a safe environment!
A reminder that Thursday, November 1, is the Solemnity of All Saints - a holyday of obligation for all Catholics. We will celebrate the Eucharist at 12:15 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the church on that day.
All students in grades 5-12 are invited to join us this Wednesday evening for a cookout and bonfire at the High Plains Retreat Center. We will meet at the church at 6 p.m. and drive out to the retreat center, returning to the church at 8 p.m. See you there!
The adult class will not meet this week (Sunday, October 14). We will resume our study of Catholic social teaching next Sunday (October 21) at 10:10 in classroom #1.
Have you recently moved to Canyon or begun attending St. Ann's on a regular basis? If so, please consider completing a registration form (available on the glass table in the narthex) and returning it to the parish office. WE would also like to include a photo of you and your family on our new "Welcome" bulletin board, soon to be located across from the parish office. Once those photos are posted, please stop by, look at the photos, and find an opportunity to greet the newcomers to our parish family! A reception for new parishioners will be held in November.
The 16th Annual Fallback Festival will be held on Saturday, November 3, from 6:30-11:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Sign up sheeets for volunteers are on the table in the narthex. Please stop by after Mass to add your name to one or more of these lists. Your ticket includes: steak dinner for two with all the trimmings (served from 6:30-8 p.m.), dancing with live music by Young Country, silent auction, a donation bar, and entry in the reverse raffle, with 5 great prizes to be awarded, a $5,000 MasterCard gift card as the grand prize. Tickets are available from Martin and Becky Lopez, Bryan Crabtree, and the St. Ann's parish office. Join us for an evening of great food and fun!
Throughout the month of November, our parish's Book of the Names of the Dead will be placed near the baptismal font. Please feel free to inscribe the names of your friends and family members who have died this past year or whose name were not previously recorded in the book. On All Souls' Day and each weekend in November, a Mass will be offered for all those whose names appear in this book.
