If you are involved in any ministry at the church where children and/or youth are present, you must be Safe Environment Trained. The next Safe Environment Training at St. Ann's will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 9 a.m. in the parish hall. Please ​pre-register at https://www.virtus.org. Contact Dcn. A Safe Environment Training session will be held at 6 p.m. this Thursday, October 3. Working with the staff at the Catholic Student Center, the St. Ann's Safe Environment Coordinator will hold the training at the Catholic Student Center here in Canyon (2610 4th Ave.). A Safe Environment Training Session will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, from 6-9 p.m. Due to the construction at St. Ann's, the session will be held in The Market, to the east of the church. The Safe Environment Coordinators are working on updating the list of St. Ann's parishioners who are safe environment trained. Several times a year, the Diocesan Safe Environment Office asks for updates. If you are safe environment trained, please visit virtus.org to ensure your information is correct. If you would like to be safe environment trained, you also should visit virtus.org for information on that process. Anyone who currently works with or plans to work with children or youth and is not certified needs to attend our next Safe Environment Training session on Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m.-noon in the Adult Education Room. A few notes about Safe Environment Training (SET): If you are in need of SET, you can attend any training in the Diocese of Amarillo. There will be a training held at St. Ann's on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room. You must be pre-registered to attend any training. The Diocese of Amarillo recognizes October as "Safe Environment Month." St. Ann's has scheduled several Safe Environment activities during the month of October 2023. Please note that the Circle of Grace materials for children and youth are very different from Safe Environment training received by adults. Youth: Those in grades 7 through 12 who come on Wednesday nights will receive the Circle of Grace training on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 6:30 p.m. Otherwise, they will receive the training during normal Faith Formation classes on Sunday, Oct. 15. Kinder-6th Grade: Circle of Grace is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 15. All children and youth participating in Faith Formation will receive age-appropriate lessons as part of the Circle of Grace program. A make-up session is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 22, during normal Faith Formation time in the parish hall for any child or youth who missed the previous trainings.
